The virus can be deposited on clothing through droplet projections. It could remain on fabrics for several hours.
60 degree cycle in washing machine with detergent for 30 minutes
Should special precautions be taken when washing laundry potentially contaminated with Covid-19? At this stage, data on the lifespan of the virus on fabrics varies. On February 18, the High Council for Public Health, contacted by the Directorate General of Health (DGS), issued an opinion in particular relating to the treatment of laundry from a confirmed case of Covid-19 contamination.
The authority therefore recommends, at this level of knowledge acquired on the virus, to "wash the sheets and linen of a confirmed patient in a washing machine with a usual detergent and a cycle at 60 degrees minimum for 30 minutes minimum".
